Learn Findow in five short lessons, each one something you try on your own Mac.
Findow does three jobs: it finds any window, brings back a whole set of apps and windows, and arranges your desktop. You don't need all of it. Most people start with one shortcut and add the rest when they want it.
Before you start
Install Findow and turn on its permissions. It takes a few minutes, and Install Findow walks you through it.
Findow lives in the menu bar, not the Dock. If you open it and no window appears, look for its icon at the top of your screen.
The lessons
- Find a window. Jump to any window from the keyboard.
- Arrange your desktop. Tidy your windows once, or keep them tidy.
- Move windows around. Snap, swap and resize.
- Save a workflow. Bring back a whole setup with one key.
- Make it yours. Change the keys and the look.
The four keys to remember
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| ⌥Tab | Tap to jump back. Hold to see your windows, and type to search |
| ⌃⌥Space | The full overview, with minimized windows and other desktops |
| ⌃⌥T | Tidy this desktop. Press again to undo |
| ⌃⌥Z | Fill the screen. Press again to go back |
⌘Tab still works as it always has. Every key can be changed, and Keyboard shortcuts lists them all.
