# Troubleshooting

Fixes for the problems people hit most.

## Findow won't open

Findow has no Dock icon or window. Look for its icon in the menu bar.

## A shortcut does nothing

- Check [Permissions](https://findowmac.com/permissions.html), especially Accessibility.

- Another app may use the same key. Change it in Settings > Shortcuts, which tells you if a command clashes inside Findow.

- If you use AltTab, quit it or change its shortcut.

## Windows have gone off the screen

They're waiting at the edge. Click the tab there, or hold ⌃⌥ and use the mouse wheel. Quitting Findow brings every window back.

## Nothing arranges on one display

Open the [menu bar panel](https://findowmac.com/menu-bar-panel.html) and look for "This display is off", then turn it on. Arranging also pauses while Stage Manager is on.

## Windows keep moving back

Another window manager may be running. Quit it. Findow warns you if it finds one.

## A permission is on, but Findow says it isn't

## Previews are blank

Findow needs Screen Recording, and macOS applies it after Findow restarts.

## Findow quit by itself

If Findow stops unexpectedly it reopens, and stops trying after three crashes in two minutes. Details are in ~/Library/Logs/Findow/engine.log, which you can send us.
