# Snapping

Put one window exactly where you want it, with no mode turned on.

| Key | Action |
| --- | --- |
| ⌃⌥← | Left half |
| ⌃⌥→ | Right half |
| ⌃⌥↑ | Maximize |
| ⌃⌥↓ | Center, keeping its size. A window filling the screen comes in a little |
| ⌃⌥D | Left third |
| ⌃⌥F | Center third |
| ⌃⌥G | Right third |
| ⌃⌥Z | Fill the screen, and press again to go back |

These work when Arrange is off or on Auto. On the [strip](https://findowmac.com/strip.html), the arrow keys and ⌃⌥F do strip moves instead.

## Change a snap's width

Press a left or right snap again to change its width. "Repeat a left or right snap to change its width" is on by default in Settings > Arrange.

## Turn snapping off

Turn off "Use snapping shortcuts" in Settings > Shortcuts to give those keys back to other apps.
