# Find a window

Jump back to your last window, pick from all of them, or type a few letters.

Show me how

## Jump back

The quickest move in Findow is a tap. It takes you to the window you were just in, with nothing on screen.

Keyboard

Tap ⌥Tab.

Mouse

Choose a mouse button in Settings > Shortcuts, under Find windows. That button opens the overview, where you click a window. See [The overview](https://findowmac.com/overview.html).

## See your windows

Keyboard

- Hold ⌥ and press Tab. Keep holding ⌥.

- Press Tab to move along, or ⇧Tab to go back.

- Let go of ⌥ to open the selected window.

Mouse

- Hold ⌥ and press Tab. Keep holding ⌥.

- Click any card, or use the arrows when there are more windows than fit.

## Search by typing

While you hold ⌥, just type. You can search by window title or app name, and typos and initials still work. Windows you've opened from a search before come first next time.

Now try it on your Mac

Hold ⌥Tab and type the first few letters of an app you have open, then let go.

It worked if

That app's window comes to the front, even if it was behind everything else.

If it doesn't work

If nothing shows, check that Findow has its [permissions](https://findowmac.com/permissions.html). If another app such as AltTab is running, it may be using ⌥Tab too. Quit it, or change the key in [Make it yours](https://findowmac.com/make-it-yours.html).
